A Brew Revolution

Halifax, NS (May 4, 2006) - As the ribbon is cut, the brew-house blessed and the gun salute fired by soldiers from the Halifax Citadel, Garrison Brewing Company officially opens its new production facility at 1149 Marginal Road, Seawall District Pier 20-23 .

"We are thrilled to be here," comments Brian Titus, President of Garrison Brewing Company. "And today we celebrate not only our success as a business, but the revitalization of this historic area and what it means for the city of Halifax."

Nearly a decade after producing the first batch of Garrison's signature "Irish Red Ale", the microbrewery has established a permanent home, complete with a retail storefront, hospitality area for tours and sampling, corporate functions and other special events. At nearly 5400 square feet, Garrison will be able to triple its' brewing capacity in order to keep up with the growing demand for its distinctive and award-winning product line. In 2005, sales increased by 18% and reached record overall levels.

Garrison Brewery Opening

Garrison's new facility is the first of a series of developments planned for construction at the Halifax Port Authority's historic waterfront, and serves as an anchor attraction for locals and visitors alike.

With his staff by his side, including new sales representative and beer industry veteran, Peter Oland, Titus describes the significance of the move. "We started doing something we loved, and found that a lot of people out there loved it too. We've been lucky to have such a loyal group of customers and supporters - they're the reason we need this new and bigger location."

Garrison has also recently unveiled a bold, new look. The redesigned corporate logo features Halifax's "noon gun" and all labeling, boxes and tap handles have undergone a graphic overhaul.

With a solid nod to tradition and a glass raised to the future, Titus sighs a brief moment of relief before the next phase of the journey begins. With the thirsty summer months approaching, the busy brewery will produce 50% of its beer for sale in bottles, kegs and growlers in over 100 bars and restaurants, 75 liquor stores, and made available to the 175,000 cruise ship visitors who will pass by Garrison's doors.
