A tale of forbidden love set against the building of the Canadian railway in the 1880s. Iron Road follows the journey of Little Tiger, a Chinese woman who disguises herself as a man to circumvent immigration rules of the time, and persuade the son of a railroad tycoon to hire her onto the explosives crew. This screening will be complemented by a short presentation by a Museum historian on Chinese immigration, exclusion and head tax. This is a free event, presented in English.
“Diversity Spotlight: Iron Road” is presented in partnership with REEL CANADA and Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS).
