Opening February 28 at the Mary E. Black Gallery is this exhibit of modern Jacquard woven textiles, apparel and upholstery in a must see collaboration of colour, texture, line and form.
Robin Muller's Jacquard woven coat in cotton and silk, uses images based on fat lipids. Made from a pattern for the cocoon coat by Paul Poiret, 1912, a collaborative project with Kim Morgan, 2010.
Andrea Saint-Pierre creates functional fine craft furniture that presents to the public her urban interpretation of Art Deco and Art Nouveau interiors. Her woven fabric using silk, wool, or cotton blends, over which she dyes details that include shades and nuances otherwise not available to her through weaving.
