As part of Filipino Heritage Month celebrations, all are invited to join us for the unveiling of the film Becoming Labrador at its world premiere screening at the Museum.
A film by Rohan Fernando, Tamara Segura and Justin Simms, Becoming Labrador tells the story of a growing community Filipino workers who travelled halfway around the world to the stark Labrador interior for jobs, new opportunities and a better life. The film follows a handful of these men and women in their quests to make a place for themselves in the strange new land. The screening will include a cultural performance and story telling session followed by reception.
Becoming Labrador is presented in partnership with the National Film Board, the Filipino Association of Nova Scotia (FANS), the Filipino-Canadian Heritage Society of Nova Scotia (FCHSNS) and the Philippine Consulate General Halifax. This screening is part of the Museum’s Diversity Spotlight Film Series.
