This homage to F.H. Varley’s The Immigrants is a collage of customized dinner plates. Each plate represents a different culture, and together the installation investigates the notion of “portable culture.” On Wednesday, August 30 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., join the artist for a discussion about the process and intention behind the creation of The Immigrants: Hommage to F.H. Varley.
Soheila Esfahani grew up in Tehran, Iran, and moved to Canada in 1992. Currently a part of the Canada: Day 1 exhibit, The Immigrants was created using responses Soheila received after asking the question “what is your culture?” to a diverse group.
