The film Kayak to Klemtu tells the story of 14 year-old Ella, tasked with testifying at a community hearing in Klemtu about oil tankers passing through her territorial waters. Ella makes the journey in her kayak, a 500-kilometer trip up the BC coast, as a way of fulfilling her uncle’s dying wish and to scatter his ashes through their ancestral land.

From 6:00 to 6:45 p.m. participants are invited to visit the exhibition Family Bonds and Belonging as preparation for this Diversity Spotlight Screening.
