July 9, 2015, Halifax, NS – Following a day of celebrations commemorating the 175th anniversary of the first Cunard vessel transatlantic crossing on July 10, 2015, a special sendoff will take place in Halifax harbour.
The Queen Mary 2 will depart the Halifax Seaport at 8:00 p.m. The attached chart provides highlights of the Queen Mary 2 departure route, which is a counter clockwise tour of the harbour. She will meet up with an escort company including Theodore Tugboat, Tugboat Atlantic Oak, and HMCS Montreal. A naval artillery salute will take place shore side from the wharf of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic where music will be provided by the Stadacona Band.
The sail pass will take approximately 75 minutes, beginning at 8:00 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity to see the Queen Mary 2 in all her glory as the vessel pays tribute to the historic connection between Cunard and Halifax.
